Pada tanggal 8 Juli, Linkin Park mengumukan secara resmi bahwa A Thousand Suns dirilis pada tanggal 14 September. Linkin Park juga menyatakan bahwa singel pertama dari album ini adalah lagu "The Catalyst". Lagu ini dirilis pada tanggal 2 Agustus.

Musik video untuk lagu "Waiting for the End" dipertunjukkan pada tanggal 8 Oktober, 2010 dan video ini diarahkan oleh Joe Hahn.
